The little grey Fergie is sixty years old this year,
and to celebrate the occasion we are going to bring you photographs and
some of it's history, plus special pages on restoration.
Since the invention of the wheel, nothing
revolutionised farming in Llyn, as much as the little fergie tractor. For
the first time ever smallholders could afford to buy a tractor, before
this, only a handful of the larger farms on Llyn were owners, such as
Penarfynydd, that had a Fordson Major.
Harry Ferguson designed this tractor specifically
for smallholders and market gardeners. The first model came on the market
in 1946, shortly after the war, and soon became a great success.
