In the Fleet

In the list below you will find the ships that were
in the Blue Funnel fleet between 1968 and when I left them in early 1973.
It's as accurate as I can get it, but it's use in any research ought to be
verified. Ocean Fleets who were Blue Funnel's owners during my brief stay
with them, were constantly renaming vessels, and moving them to Glen Line
or Elder Dempster, and back again to Blue Funnel. Sometimes they would
change a ships name just before they were sold or scrapped (see Ajax),
so that they could use the name on another new build. But hopefully I have
managed in the main to get it right. By 1975~76, most of these ships were
gone, and after that the fleet was made up of container vessels, bulk and
car carriers, so this list is how it was at Blue Funnel's last final
hours, as a conventional cargo ships company. |
