Thursday 4 – Wind and fog today. Prayer Meeting at Pisgah. BW 11 to 4 am.

Friday 5 – Youth from Pant Glas at Tan Foel his subject ‘Walking the old paths’

Took the hut to Congol. Had tea at Rhiwlas then went to do the milking at Bwlchgarreg. Richard Graig Ewig’s funeral.

Monday 5 – BW 2 to 6 am Half at Rhiwlas. Parish Council elect R Jones, Pwllmelyn and I as well as three new members E Hughes, H Jones, Conion Ganol and Th Thomas Gwelfor.

Tuesday 6 – BW 4 am to 8.

Wednesday 7 – Planted potatoes near the hen coop. RHT’s potatoes. BW pay £1/2/6d

Thursday 8 – At Cadwgan digging the garden and hedging to keep the hens out.

Friday 9 – Received 15/- from the Keatings. Planted six rows of potatoes at Rhiwlas, had 3/- from Daniel for the job.

Saturday 10 – Churning at Tan Ffordd. Rain but it’s been extremely dry recently.

Sunday 11 – John Ellis Williams, the preacher.

Monday 12 – Sent 11/2d for the monthly books. Measured the ropes in the LSA hut.

Tuesday 13 – Churning at Tanffordd.

Wednesday 14 – With Daniel. BW 6pm to 10. John goes to Felin Ucha to fetch a pig.

Thursday 15 – With Daniel. John goes to fetch the car from Ty Fwg. BW 6 to 10pm.

Friday 16 – With Daniel. BW 10pm to 2 am.

April.

 Sunday 1 - Griffith Thomas Roberts at 2 and 6.

Monday 2 – Nell and Leila go to Uwchmynydd. John Evans gives in and sings (at the eisteddfod). Dry weather from the east.

Tuesday 3 – Half at Cadwgan, began planting the garden. Went to Aberdaron to protest against the scheme to spend £5000 on getting water from Glan Gors. Dry hard easterly weather.

Wednesday 4 – At Cadwgan planting in the garden, then I went hedging for Hugh Jones, Tyn Rhos.

Thursday 5 – Rain. Went to Aberdaron to see a man about the water business. BW 8 to 12 pm.

Friday 6 -  At Rhiwlas. Daniel has taken the cow down to Congol.

Saturday 7 – At Cadwgan fencing Tyn Rhos fields. The weather is cold and exceptionally dry.

Sunday 8 – A little rain this morning. Prayer meeting at 2 and 6.

Monday 9 – At Rhiwlas digging potatoes and planting in the morning, feeding the animals in the afternoon.

Tuesday 10 – John goes to Tocia Bach to fetch the onions. Planting near the apple tree.

Wednesday 11 – At Penarfynydd 36 loads of manure for the potatoes in Cae Pant. A little rain this evening.

Thursday 12 – BW 4am to 8.Good rain this morning. Went part of the way with Hugh Jones to take the cow to Pengarn to meet RD Owen, Waen.

Friday 13 – BW 7.30 to 3.30 pm. Half at Rhiwlas. Rain this evening.

Saturday 14 – Churning in the morning. BW 11.30 to 3.30.

Sunday 15 – Gwyn Jones the preacher at 2 and 6. BW 3.30 to 7.30.

Monday 16 – Half at Rhiwlas picking potatoes. John is thrashing at Ty Mawr.

Tuesday 17 – BW 12 to 4am. Half at Penarfynydd spreading manure on Cae Pant.

Wednesday 18 – BW 12 to 4am. Half at Penarfynydd burying potatoes until 8pm.

Thursday 19 – Finishing spreading manure and burying potatoes.

Friday 20 – Churning at Tan Ffordd and planting potatoes in the field below the house. Started to rain in the evening.

Saturday 21 – Half at Cadwgan. Hugh Jones gave me 10/-.

Sunday 22 – Youth from Bangor.

Monday 23 – BW 3am to 7. Half at Penarfynydd started sowing Cae Pwllfadog. Rain in the evening.

Tuesday 24 – BW 3am to 7. Half finishing Cae Pwllfadog. Churning at Tan Ffordd in the afternoon.

Wednesday 25 – Quarter at Penarfynydd sowing the top end of Cae Pant for three hours with R Griffith Pisgah.

Thursday 26 – Three hours again this morning. Watchers (LSA) drill 12 to 2pm. Then I went to finish putting a roof on the henhouse with Robert from 3 until 8pm.

Friday 27 – BW pay £2/0/6d. 15/- for working at Rhiwlas. At Rhiwlas taking the cattle out to Tyn Graig.

Saturday 28 – At Penarfynydd sowing the bottom end of Cae Pant and hedging in Borthwen in the afternoon. Went to Aberdaron to buy Cimla from Evan Jones the carpenter.

Sunday 29 – Joseff Jones at 2 and 6.

Monday 30 – At Penarfynydd finishing sowing oats in the bottom end of Cae Pant. Spent the afternoon fencing the mountain from Penllasgwrn to Porth Iwrch.

 

May.

Tuesday 1 – Churning at Tan Ffordd in the morning then spent the afternoon working on the henhouse with Robert Pisgah. BW 12 to 4am.

Wednesday 2 -  Ploughing in Penarfynydd in the morning, sowing barley in the afternoon and fencing Pentrwyn.

Thursday 3 -  Sowing in the morning and seeing to the potatoes in the afternoon.

Friday 4 – At Penarfynydd then with Robert Pisgah finishing the henhouse.

Saturday 5 – Churning at Tan Ffordd in the morning. At Penarfynydd in the afternoon rolling the potatoes. Robert Evans has gone to look for seeds.

Sunday 6 – Rain today.

Monday 7 – BW 5am to 9. Half at Penarfynydd went to Ysgo to fetch barley and finishing sowing.

Tuesday 8 – Laying a floor at Rhiwlas went to do the churning then came back and finished the floor. Heavy rain.

Wednesday 9 – BW 4am to 8. Went to town to meet Evan Jones the carpenter about Cimla. Drill watchers pay 2/3d.

Thursday 10 – At Penarfynydd getting the bullock ready for the sale.

Friday 11 – BW 7am to 11. Very hot today. Manuring the mangles.

Saturday 12 – Churning at Tan Ffordd. Cold today.

Sunday 13 – Prayer Meeting at 2 and 6.30.

Monday 14 – Richard goes to the fair. Cold weather.

Tuesday 15 – Churning in the morning. BW 4.30 to 6.30. Heavy rain this evening.

Wednesday 16 – Fenced the pond for the cattle in Parc Isa, Tan Ffordd.

Thursday 17 – At Rhiwlas sowing turnips and digging the garden. BW 10pm to 2am.

Thursday 24 – At Brynteg. Dick sells the red cow and the black heifer at the sale in Sarn.

Thursday 14 – It rained a little. Preparing to go to the Preaching Festival at Nefyn. It started to rain before we set off.

Saturday 16 – BW 3am to 7 fog. RHT brings bricks and timber for Cimla. Shearing at Tan Ffordd.

Thursday 21 – Rain. At Cimla sealing the floor.

Friday 22 – BW 2 to 6. Sealing and finishing the floor at Cimla.

Saturday 23 – Put a floor in the chamber (bedroom) in Cimla and made frames to close the corner in the living room.

Tuesday 3 – At Brynteg.

Wednesday 4 – At Ty Canol started cutting the hay, hot day.

Thursday 5 – At Ty Canol cutting in the morning and raking the hay in the afternoon in the field below the barn. Thomas puts the oven in at Cimla.

Friday 6 – Carrying 8 loads. Watchers drill. Very hot.

Saturday 7 – At Ty Canol carrying 7 loads from Cae Rhydlyd. Very hot.

Sunday 8 – Evan Bryn Difyr at 2 and 6.30.

Monday 9 – At Ty Canol cutting hay – the engine breaks down.

Tuesday 10 – At Ty Canol finished carrying 3 loads.

Wedneday 11 – At Ty Canol carried 6 loads from Cae Isa and two from the field that is part barley. Rained a little this evening.

Thursday 12 – At Ty Canol raking the field clean and carrying until 8pm.

Friday 13 – At Ty Canol carrying 5 loads from Cae Winllan until 10pm.

Saturday 14 – At Ty Canol finishing the haymaking.

Monday 16 – Carrying Cae Big and finishing Cae Capel.

Thursday 26 – Owen Griffith, Meillionydd Bach dies.

Friday 27 – Dug a grave for Owen Griffith, it’s the first grave at Pisgah chapel.

Saturday 28 – Digging the grave until 8pm – it’s hard place with a big rock at the bottom. Nell, Laura and the children go to the furniture auction at Rhoshirwaun.

Sunday 29 – Edward Thomas, Aberdaron at 2 and 6.30. BW 10 to 2pm. It rained this morning and thanks for it.

Monday 30 – Owen Griffith’s funeral.

Tuesday 31 – Half at Ty Canol. Went to Bytilith 2pm to 6. Started cutting hay at Ty Canol.

Saturday 1 – At Meillionydd for Owen Griffith, Refail Bach putting cement in the manger in the shed. BW 8pm to 12.

Sunday 2 – WJ Jones at 2 and 6. BW 8pm to 12.

Monday 3 – At Meillionydd for Owen Griffith. BW 12 to 4.

Tuesday 4 – Heavy rain.

Wednesday 5 – BW 4am to 8am. Half at Meillionydd.

Friday 7 – At Bwlchclawdd making a new door in the front of the barn and blocking up the back one.

Saturday 8 – BW 8am to 12. Went to town in the afternoon.

Tuesday 11 – Working on the cowshed at Bwlchclawdd.

Wednesday 12 – At Bryn Miser ptting in a pipe. BW 12 to 4pm. BW pay £2/14/0d.

Thursday 13 – At Bryn Miser. BW 12 to 4pm.

Friday 14 – At Bwlchclawdd with the mangers.

Saturday 15 – BW 5am to 9.

Sunday 16 – Williams Ffestibiog at 3.

Monday 17 – At Meillionydd putting ridge tiles on the shed roof.

Tuesday 18 – BW 2am to 6 and 6pm to 10.

Wednesday 19 – Catherine Tan Capel dies. BW 2pm to 6. Daniel takes the geese to town. Sent the money for the monthly books.

Thursday 20 – At Bryn Miser. BW 2pm to 6.

Friday 21 – At Meillionydd finishing putting the ridge tiles. Plough from Rhiwlas 7/-.

Saturday 22 – Everyone goes to town today. Catherine Jones’s funeral at Nebo. Had 10/- from Ty Croes Mawr.

Sunday 23 – Hoowood at 2.

Monday 24 – At Bryn Miser finishing the drain.

Tuesday 25 – BW 2pm to 6.

Wednesday 26 – BW 6am to 10.

Thursday 27 – Daniel’s cow has a calf. BW 2am to 6.

Friday 28 – BW 2am to 6. At Brynteg working on the kitchen. Received £2/2/0d
