Wednesday 5 – Nell and the children go back with the early train. Ismael takes them to Pwllheli.

Thursday 6 – Had a postcard from Nell from Montgomery, they arrived there at 10.10 yesterday morning. Had a letter from Richard. 5/- corn for the hens.

Friday 7 – Cold day.

Saturday 8 –  Freezing hard today. Had a letter from Nell to say that Little Boy and Leila Ba missed their granddad. B W 5/7d.

Tuesday 11 – Muck spreading in the field next to Conion with H Jones’s mare two loads.

Thursday 27 – John Ty Rhos comes to plough the chapel field ready to plant potatoes. Fine day.

Saturday 1 –

Sunday 2 – Had a telegram to say that Reg had died.

Monday 3 – Started off for Clun. Hugh Terfyn takes me on his motorbike to Pwllheli.

Tuesday 4 –

Wednesday 5 – Reg’s funeral in Clun.

Thursday 6 – Rain all day. Took the bullock to Mr Emar.

Friday 7 – Nell went to Bishop’s Castle, sent a letter home. A man comes to see The Birches.

Saturday 8 – Nell goes to the hospital to get poor Reg’s clothes. Sold the bullock at the auction in Bishops Castle.

Sunday – Thursday – 9 to 13 – Wet weather. At Birches Clun Shropshire.

Friday 14 – Sent a letter to Ael Bryn and a letter to Thomas in Abererch. Heavy snow this evening..

Saturday 15 – Heavy snow today. The Birches auction.

Tuesday 18 – Sent a letter home to RHT. Nell has gone to Clun.

Wednesday 2 – Went to Botwnnog to get Eliza a bottle of medicine. Installed the oven at Rhiwlas in the afternoon.

Friday 4 – B W 12/3d. Made a grate for Penponcyn. B W 6 to 11pm.

Tuesday 29 – Went to town, Bob has the promise of a house.

Thursday 1 – At Tyn Castell putting up the guttering. Dr Williams Nefyn calls. Sent a £1 to the Bookroom.

Wednesday 30 – Went to town to buy new clothes for the funeral.

Thursday 31 – Went to Shop Pencaerau and Ty Canol.

 

August

Friday 1 – Went to Ty Fair on the way to find the papers form the relieving officer to bury my dear wife.

Saturday 2 – My dear wife’s funeral at Aberdaron. We leave the house at 2. Heavy rain in the morning but the weather is kind to us in the afternoon.

Sunday 3 – Fine Sunday but a miserable one the place is empty, it’s all over now, we were together for nearly 37 years.

Monday 4 –

Tuesday 5 – Bad weather 3 to 8 am. Helped Daniel to clear up after the LSA drill.

Wednesday 6 – Went to town to pay for .. (?) for my dear wife.

Thursday 7 –

Friday 8 – B W 1 to 5 am.

Saturday 9 – Unemployed £1/0/0d. Received 6/- for putting pots on the chimneys in Ty Croes Mawr.

Sunday 10 – Daniel comes to Carreg Lefain wanting me to go to Bytilith for B W 10 am to 3 pm.

Monday 11 – At Rhiwlas this morning putting a frame round the door. B W 15/9d.

Tuesday 12 – Sheepdog trials at Cae Pant, good day until 5 when we had a heavy shower, but it cleared up later.

Wednesday 13 -  B W 5 to 9. Went to town to pay Lloyd George (death duty). B W 4/6d.

Thursday 14 – At Eifion building the kitchen wall 4/-.

Saturday 16 – Unemployed 3 days 8/4d. Had 4/- from Richard Pwllmelyn for putting up John Pritchard for two nights over the sheepdog trials.

November

Saturday 1 -  The heaviest rain I’ve ever seen whilst it lasted.

Sunday 2 – R Von Owen at 2 and 6. I’ve a cold today. Daniel calls at 4 am wanting me to go and do the milking for him in Bwlchgarreg and then go to the B W at 9am to 2 pm.

Monday 3-  B W 5 to 10 pm. Bad news W Jones has been killed.

Tuesday 4 – The cold’s a little better. Willie Llyshyfryd and Owen Siop go to Swansea to fetch W Jones’s body.

Wednesday 5 – B W 1 to 6.

Thursday 6 – Half at Penarfynydd picking potatoes. William Jones ‘s body is brought home from Swansea.

Friday 7 – At Penarfynydd putting ropes on the barley stack.

Saturday 8 -  William Jones Llyshyfryd’s funeral at Nebo. He fell down the hatch on his ship at Swansea.

Sunday 9 – E o Lloyd at 2 and 6. B W 7 to 12 am.

Monday 10 – At Tyn Castell cementing the gable end.

Tuesday 11 – Went to the fair. Fine day. Unemployed.
