Sunday 1 – No preacher. Prayer meeting.

Monday 2 – Shift all of us at Benallt went to Nant to repair the jetty.

Tuesday 3 – Shift at Nant.

Wednesday 4 – Shift at Nant. Wrote a letter to Nell.

Thursday 5 – Shift came back up to Benallt.

Friday 6 – Shift at Benallt. Morris Negraig and Griffith Pwllcrwn are at the shop.

Saturday 7 – Shift at Benallt. Voting day Morris and Owen Shop Sarn.

Sunday 8 – T Glyn Roberts at 2 and 6.  Cold Sunday dry wind from the north.

Monday 9 – Shift. Dry weather wind from the north.

Tuesday 10 – Shift. Rain from the north.

Wednesday 11 – Shift. Began digging the big patch this evening.

Thursday 12 – Shift got four big hammers to knock the boxes on the jetty.

Friday 13 -  Shift at Benallt. Pay £2/17/8d. Tedi finishes digging the big patch at Ael y Bryn.

Saturday 14 – Shift. At Benallt. Tonight we choose councillors for the parish council ( community ) R Evans Penarfynydd. Rob Williams Moelwyn View. H Jones Terfyn, John Evans Terfyn Isa,  Elis Jones, R Griffith Pwllmelyn, Griff Griffiths Tyn Lon.

Sunday 15 – Prayer meeting at 2 and 6. School in the afternoon chose W Jones Llyshyfryd to be inspector.

Monday 16 – Shift hammering the box to strengthen the jetty.

Tuesday 17 – Shift hammering the box.

Wednesday 18 – Shift at the jetty.

Thursday 19 – Shift at the jetty.

Friday 20 – Shift at the jetty.

Saturday 21 – Shift came up from Nant to Benallt. Snow. Had a letter from Nell.

Sunday 22 -  Thomas BA Cricieth.  Worship service at 6 chose a secretary and treasurer and the Brodyr Ffransis.

Monday 23 – Shift at the jetty  hammering piles.

Tuesday 24 – Shift hammering the piles at the jetty. The co-operative shop Rhiw closes.

Wednesday 25 – Shift hammering piles again.

Thursday 26 – Shift at the jetty again. Pay £2/18/4d. Planted the border next to the chicken shed.

Friday 27 – Shift with W Jones Llyshyfryd fixing bolts Hugh and Evan Murpoeth come to Benallt to turn the ‘hammer’ ( pile driver ??)

Saturday 28 – Shift at the jetty. Finished planting early potatoes.

Sunday 29 – Prayer meeting at 2 and 6. Went to Tan Rardd for tea. Paid the monthly collection to Miss Griffith Meillionydd Bach.

Monday 30 – Shift at the jetty. March was a dry month all along.

Tuesday 31 – Shift at the jetty finished the boxes. Tedi finishes planting potatoes here. Sent a parcel to Nell. It rained tonight.

April.

Wednesday 1 – Shift at Benallt.

Thursday 2 – Shift. Had a letter to say that Jini Penbryn Bach had died.

Friday 3 – Shift. Meeting at Pencaerau ( chapel )

Saturday 4 – Eliza and I go to Jini Penbryn Nach’s funeral. Rhiw election Griffith Owen and Rev Griffith Williams. Went in 88 G O, 77 Rev G W, 68 E H, 52 Tomos Williams.

Sunday 5 – A Ll Hughes Nefyn at 2 and 6. Rain.

Saturday 25 – Shift. Sent the Herald to Nell with the report of Jini Clwt y Bont’s wedding in it. Ellen Erw moves from Salfyr Bach to Bardsey.

Sunday 26 – Worship service at 6.30. Glyn Roberts at 2. Cold Sunday wind from the north.

Tuesday 28 – Shift. Quite a good gathering at the fellowship meeting.

Saturday 4 – Shift. Eliza goes to town to buy wallpaper for the big bedroom. Didn’t do much today  back ache.

Wednesday 12 – Shift. Rain today. Harry Thomas has orders to keep the pump at Nant.

Thursday 13 – Shift lifted the pump at Nant.

Friday 14 – Shift.  Keeping the wood from the jetty and raising the hammer on to its cradle. Pay £2/12/8d.

Saturday 15 -  Shift hoisting the cradle. Fishing in the afternoon with Tedi and Tommy Brynawel at Hen Ddinas caught 13.

Sunday 16 – A Ll Hughes at 10.

Monday 17 – Last shift at work.

Tuesday 18 – Fishing with Albert, O Owens and Robert Syntyr at Hen Ddinas.

Wednesday 19 – Went to town for the unemployed.

Thursday 20 – Went to the Preaching festival at Rhoshirwaen Hall.

Friday 21 – Sent Nell a postcard can’t understand why she has been so long in replying to the letter I sent. Went fishing to Borth Las it rained and we got soaked.

Saturday 22 – Eliza and I go the flower show at Sarn.

Sunday 23 – Prayer meeting at 2 and 6.

Monday 24 – Fishing in the morning. Fishing in the evening, caught three wrasse one was nearly 5lbs.

Tuesday 25 – Sheepdog trials, at Pant field.

Wednesday 26 – Mist today. Tedi comes back from Ffestiniog.

Thursday 27 – Tedi and Bob go to Penygroes with Ty Croes’s motorbike.

Friday 28 – At Ty Canol installing the oven.

Saturday 29 – Received 15/2d unemployment money.

Saturday 5 – John Hughes Cae Forus, he used to live at Cadlan Isa was found dead on the roadside near Morfa Mawr.

Tuesday 29 – Margaret Tyddyn’s funeral. Stormy wet day.

Wednesday 30 – Half day at pwllmelyn started putting up a partition between the scullery and the parlour.

Thursday 31 – Spent the day finishing the partition.
